The Michigan Independent Video Association is established to promote the growth of independent producers and videographers through advanced education and training, social relationships and networking, along with an advocacy of the values and effectiveness of video for our clients..

On Thursday, May 6th, join Ann Arbor wedding and event photographer Aruna B and a model couple as she will be leading a hands-on workshop in downtown Royal Oak in the “art of posing”. We will be meeting at 4:30pm at Studio 628 – home of Epic Motion (628 E. Parent Ave., Royal Oak, MI) and then heading downtown shortly thereafter.

The workshop will be tailored toward filmmakers, but anyone who is interested in the concept is welcome.

Space is limited to 12 people. Bring your cameras, sliders, steadicams, etc.. It will be a great opportunity to see some other cameras and stuff in use – and a great opportunity to try some new things out. Email info@mivaonline.com if you need more information.

StillMotion Presents The Art of Wedding Cinema

April 1st, 2009, MIVA will be hosting an all-day experience with award-winning and world famous Patrick Moreau and StillMotion of Toronto, Canada. The event is co-sponsored by Canon and our local association and will include hands on training with one of the most talented wedding cinematography studios in the world.

They will be touching on their entire process from input to output with a focus on the art behind it. Some key things will be shooting with depth, composition, seeing natural light, adding in your own light, advanced tools such as Steadicam and 35mm adapters, as well as shooting with color in mind.

Attendence will be limited to forty people to maintain an intimate learning environment. We encourage people to register early as we believe seats will fill up quickly.
